Late afternoon haze reveals the ridges above Silesia Valley that flows north into the Fraser River Valley of British Columbia. This is largely a result of atmospheric haze. Some artists refer to it as atmospheric perspective.
The title of this image is "Silesia Blue." In the summer of 1985, a friend and I hiked up the Copper Ridge trail to the Copper Mountain Fire Lookout with my camera (35mm Canon AE-1). At the time, I was experimenting with creating landscape panoramas by capturing a multiple-image, panned version of the landscape. The Silesia Creek drainage basin is visible at the bottom. It flows north towards Chilliwack, B.C. The two high peaks in the middle are Mt. MacFarlane on the left and Mt. Pierce on the right. The beautiful softness of the image is the result of the backscattering of afternoon sunlight streaming in from the left. It was one of my first "epiphany" experiences of seeing the incredibly delicious effect light can have on a final image. To this day, I often search for this visual "eye candy."
Please note: "Premium Limited Edition Prints" are exclusive art print products that I personally print, inspect, number, sign, and title in my Bellingham Studio. A certificate of authenticity is also included. For more details click HERE.
