I have these potted grasses in a large pot right on my deck. I am not sure why this happened, but I became a little obsessed with photographing them over the last month. I captured several hundred images of them during the entire month of October. Experimenting with them in all kinds of lighting conditions became very rewarding. Slow shutter revealed sweeping painterly motion. Overcast weather made them feel drab and lifeless. As I studied, I found that late afternoon to early evening sunlight drew me in. A sidelight to backlit appearance altered my perception of how I felt about actually recording something that pleased me beyond my sometimes "low hanging fruit" goals. I wished I could easily show you how this process progressed, but it will have to be a goal for another date with creative thinking. I eventually drilled into a macro photography approach. It is where I found the magic I had been exploring after. In some sense of weirdness, Christopher Columbus came to mind. There is a softness to "Macro Analogy" that satisfies. Everything may not be sharp, but that became merely background noise in my creative process. I believe there is a depth to this image that reveals something new from something old.
