About three years ago, I started hiking with my friend Ken Harrison and "his Boomer's. The first trip was a challenge called Bridal Veil Falls and Lake Serene. The 2700 feet of vertical and 7.6 miles round trip kicked my ass. I was woefully out of "hiking shape" and I limped around for several days. I have gone on several hikes since with this group of avid outdoor adventure consumers, but my favorite is the tour to Twin Lakes. We pulled off a short but steep late afternoon hike to the fire lookout on the top of Winchester Mountain. Of course, the light can be beautiful at that time of day at 6500 feet. We hit the jackpot for photography that evening. The next day our group left early in the morning to hike up to High Pass at the base of Mt Larabee. It's a 2,150-foot climb and totals 6 miles. The top elevation is close to 7,000 feet. The Plaiedes are the jagged sawtooth peaks from the left to the middle of the shot. Ken is the Hiker with the large floppy hat.
