This panoramic sunset at Sucia Island is from EV Henry Pt. Little Sucia and Fox Cove are in the foreground. This island is a state park. At times this secluded space seems wild and free when there aren't too many boaters worshipping at this premier "church for boaters." If you are there in the fall or early spring, this place is generally deserted.
It's another San Juan Islands area I frequently visit quite often. I chose to anchor in Fossil Bay. I could see the clouds beginning to dish up a beautiful sky for sunset, so I dropped my camera pack and tripod into the skiff. It was a short paddle in the glassy water to the beach and a peaceful hike to the location. I was all alone. All I could hear was the gentle voice of a breeze rustling through the trees. Waves of water were lapping up the shoreline. I was in my private little heaven with seagulls screeching in the distance. Sky drama was my goal for the evening. It was thrilling to achieve a sense of "Mission Accomplished!"
