For years I have been wondering the San Juan Islands with my camera. The madrona trees near Deer Harbor are beautiful to capture at the moment of sunrise.
Near Deer Harbor is a cliff that overlooks the harbor and the small isolated Fawn Island (once owned by Gene Hackman). An early morning hike, that began before daylight, was necessary to get to this beautiful madrona tree to photograph it at the moment of sunrise. I have been there many times, but I can’t return there now. There is a private home just out of the frame to the right.
