For Northwest Photographer, Mark Bergsma, the pursuit of "Fine Art Color Photography" all began in 1979 when his interest in photography was renewed with the acquisition of a new Canon AE-1. This instant gratification of making images with a camera kindled illusions of grandeur that he could be the next Ansel Adams, John Sexton, or renowned artists like Elliot Porter. Passion and persistent pursuit of artistically rendered landscapes led Mark to new equipment purchases, art shows and a complete change to digital imaging in 2005. Today, Mark finds himself inspired by a whole new group of creative image makers that have stepped outside the landscape photography box and have fully embraced the art of digital imaging. Study the work of inspirational digital artists like John Paul Caponigro, Jerry Uelsmann, Maggie Taylor, Howard Schatz, August Bradley, Doug Landreth, Douglas Ethridge, Chris Clor and Huntington Witherill. The work they create is truly incredible.
From capture to print, Mark creates images with the grace of an artist and the skills of a technician. Some even say these landscape images look more like paintings than photographs.
